Don’t Make Long-Term Decisions in a L.E.A.S.T. State
One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned in leadership, life, and faith is this: emotions are great messengers but terrible decision-makers. Before you commit to a big move, change direction, say yes or no to something that can alter your future — check your state of mind. Never make long-term decisions when you are in your L.E.A.S.T. state:
L – Lonely: Don’t fill emotional gaps with permanent choices.
E – Excited: Don’t confuse hype for clarity.
A – Angry: Don’t let offense guide your future.
S – Sad: Grief clouds good judgment.
T – Tired: Fatigue makes everything feel heavier than it is.
Decisions made in emotional extremes often lead to regret. Give yourself permission to pause, to process, and to pray. Time brings clarity. So does wise counsel.
Your future is too important to be shaped by a moment. Breathe. Wait. Revisit it with a clearer heart.
Because when you’re not at your L.E.A.S.T., you’ll make choices that bring out your best.
